Bauska city, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities of Zemgale region, is located in the south of Latvia, some 67 km from the captial city of Riga where the two rivers – Mūsa and Mēmele – combine and form the river Lielupe – the biggest river in Zemgale region.

The Riga Motor Museum’s branch exhibition in Bauska is situated alongside many other Zemgale region tourist attractions like the monumental ruins of the 15th century Livonia Order Castle and the distinguished treasury of Baroque and Rococo art and architecture in Latvia – the Rundāle Palace. The car museum in Bauska, reconstructed in 2011, introduces visitors with the development of farm machinery in Latvia, car and motorcycle history of the 20th century, soviet all-wheel drive vehicles, widely used in the countryside, and combat vehicles from the 2nd World War.

From a neglected soviet time warehouse to a popular tourist attraction

The neglected Soviet era warehouse in Bauska was long used as a storehouse for unrestored vehicles belonging to the Riga Motor Museum. Nevertheless visitors were drawn to this opportunity to see vintage vehicles and feel a touch of history.

The warehouse was reconstructed, expanded, and developed into an exhibition hall in 2011. The exhibition was supplemented with professionally restored antique cars, but a few rusty gems can still be found among the displayed vehicles.

The Motor Museum Exhibition in Bauska has been acclaimed by tourist organisations. It is located near three of Zemgales region’s best known tourist attractions: Rundāle and Mežotne palace and Bauska Castle.
